In our efforts to unearth talented up–and–coming artists from around the world, we always look to radio programmers for their advice on local unsigned acts that they’re either supporting on–air or that they’re personal fans of. If a programmer can sift through stacks of CD’s from major label artists and STILL mention a local unsigned band whose material is competitive, it really does mean a lot. Here are a few examples of our recent discoveries:
Louisville, KY’s (intheclear) is an unsigned five–piece Rock act that will be performing as part of local Alternative WLRS’ "LRSFest" on September 9. Fans of Dredg, the Deftones, A Perfect Circle or Sevendust will definitely ‘get it’ with (intheclear). Relentless touring through the Midwest for the past three years, recently sharing the stage with Staind, Hurt, Head Automatica, Chevelle and Flaw (among others), has helped them build a loyal fanbase (over 43,000 MySpace views). WLRS Louisville PD Annrae Fitzgerald says of a recent band performance, "They opened for Staind here on Derby weekend and Aaron Lewis was blown away, asking for their demo. Hurt had to follow them and had a very difficult time!" The debut (intheclear) EP was produced by Malcolm Springer (Fear Factory, Full Devil Jacket, Matchbox 20, Collective Soul). They’re mastering the full album in September and will jump back out on the road to tour the Midwest once more with The Accident Experiment (former P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel’s new band). "(intheclear) are probably the most talented band to come out of Louisville in years," says Fitzgerald. "I know they have some major label interest and (I) expect them to get something big going very soon."
